As Oahu photographers one of the most frequently asked questions we receive is what to wear for an Oahu photography session. Sometimes what you wear is based on your Oahu photography locations. We always want you to feel comfortable and look your best, but we do have some tips that can help you as a couple, family, or group get those amazing photos. Here are some general styling tips to help you choose the best outfit for your party.
Solid colors or basic patterns with only a few colors will always look great because they won’t take away from the focal point of the photo: you! However, if you’re booking a sunset session, don’t wear anything that will clash with the sky’s colors! Wearing reds, oranges, or pinks will make you look like you’re blending in with the sunset, which is not what we want when we’re trying to make you stand out! Having a general color scheme or pattern will make your party look cohesive, but don’t be afraid to mix up clothing styles among each member. That way, everyone still looks like an individual! In the photos of big parties, everyone has a different outfit on but they all look great together!
• Make sure you feel good about the clothes you are wearing! To appear trendy or modern in their pictures, a lot of people make the mistake of going out and buying a brand-new dress that they have never worn before, only to end up disliking the result! As with regular occasions, wear your "go-to" or "something that you think you look best in" choice if you are unclear of what to dress.
• At the end of the day, we only ask that you don't mind moving around and having a blast, regardless of the clothing you choose! When our clients aren't worried about what they're wearing, the finest pictures come naturally!
You need to consider what would complement the background, which is composed primarily of blue tones from the sky, sea and sand. Remember that the sky will be tinted orange, pinks or crimson at sunset.
Consider the color scheme that will work best for your family. Pastel colors can be chosen by some kind, caring families and those with young children. Really, do you wish to take pictures of your enjoyable trip to Hawaii? Think vivid, tropical colors! For a carefree, chilled, laid-back vibe, opt for beiges and whites.
Although it's up to you, it's usually a nice idea to avoid using black and other gloomy colors. Generally speaking, solid colors look best. If you decide to wear Aloha shirts, consider getting everyone to coordinate their prints so they are identical or strikingly similar. Another alternative is to dress the women in solid colors that go with the men's Hawaiian print shirts and the men in single-colored shirts.
You want to minimize your accessory collection. The only piece of jewelry you should be wearing if you recently got engaged is your new rock! Carry on with your desire to bring sunglasses. For certain photos, shades make an excellent prop. It is not advisable to wear a hat since it will cast shadows on your face. Leis are welcomed. They're not for the entire picture session, but they're unquestionably an important part of Hawaiian culture.
